Twisted Up

As I was meandering through Muir Woods, I came upon a root system on the side of a slope.  It was so interesting to me, so I thought I’d share it with you.  I’m sure these roots have been here for many years, yet the new green growth on the upper right shows the renewal of the forest.

  4. Reminds me of being a part of the vine . . . how strong the Lord is while He hold up all of His branches 🙂 ~ Blessings ~

  5. Wood is wonderful and I love wood floors made from these multi-coloured varieties. lovely picture.

  6. Ah, Muir Woods! It is weird how looking at that picture makes me smell Muir Woods for some reason. Your blog went from knee replacement recovery to amazing photography, and I love the progression. Looking forward to seeing more of California through your lens.

  7. Bit weird and scary on some levels… Reminds me of the movie ‘Watcher in the woods’

How does something like that even happen, I’d like to know!

  9. Mother Nature never fails to impress. Old trees and new growth – a nice mix.

  10. Saw this on Google+. Just amazing Laura. You caught the texture of the tree perfectly. Bravo my dear.

  11. That is amazing. When I look at that, I think of the amazing story those roots could tell if they could speak. All those years of growing, beating the odds, overcoming obstacles and holding their ground. It could just be that I love nature so much and trees especially.

  12. Wow, what a find! Am I the first to see a human-like form here? The figure is embracing the root from which the new growth is arising, with its head resting on it from behind. Beautifully seen, composed, and photographed, Laura.

  13. It reminds me of those trees that come to life in Lord of the Rings…very nice pic…very nice find, good way to keep your mind off of things 🙂

  14. that looks like a tight hug 😉

  15. That is Ah-mazing! I’ve never seen anything like it…in person, at least. You always seem to find the coolest stuff — thanks for sharing. : )
