Yes I couldn’t resist trying to squeeze in a post before our move lol.
We’ve lived here awhile and I’ve always loved looking out our back deck. We rarely sat out there though. Despite the compliments I’ve received on my photos from our back deck, you all probably don’t realize that there are many buildings around us and below us. I frame things quite carefully to exclude the structures in my shots, but I’ve never cloned anything out.
It seemed fitting on this last post from our current location and the very last shot from the back deck that I share with you how through the magic of framing a shot, you can present only what you want the viewers to see.
Will I miss the back deck? Hmm…probably not. While I won’t say where we are headed, it’s not very far away and you will certainly see shots from our new back deck!

Beautiful Pic. Love the contrast in the cloud colours. It looks very dramatic and foreboding.
We don’t have a deck but we have a huge floor-ceiling window in our bedroom that looks over the scrub. If we ever move from our house I will miss our morning view of the sunrise terribly!

It looks almost ominous, yet comfortable; if that makes sense.
I love weather. Especially bad weather, especially stormy weather.
This photo reminds me of growing up in rural east Texas, praying for violent weather.

Very wonderful shot–what kind of tools do you use to create these? I’m normally not a huge fan of photography but the compositions and colors you tend to bring out are striking and inspiring.

Thank you so much! I used a nikon d7100 and I started off with awesome light in camera. I created three images in photoshop, one high key, one low key and one neutral and layered them and exposed the best of the highs and lows via masking. I then dodged and burned and vignetted all in hopes of creating a painted sort of look. Thank you for asking!
