Gorgeous Rose and gorgeous composition. I love the way you framed this, Laura. And this Rose is so detailed I can almost smell Her. Thank you! Love, Amy
Your use of light and dark reminded me so much of a Vermeer painting. His subjects were mostly people, but you see that same reach off the page/canvas contrast in your flower. Beautiful!
Forgive me for thinking this way, but if this were a picture in a baby book with “scratch and sniff” properties, it would be a fabulous learning tool. The yellow is pure and clean–a color some child (or adult) would never forget.
Aww thank you for saying so but I would never take offense…I would probably more worry. Life has to go on and sometimes it’s nice to take a break. Thank you MM and I hope you have a good few weeks!
Indeed it is Laura π Lovely rose! Ours are just coming into season now. There’s a yellow rose in our communal gardens that has the most heavenly scent! I can’t pass it by without stopping and sticking my face into one of the blooms and drinking in its perfume π
I wish I had a macro lens. I think that was my 70-300mm. I love that lens! I think the best nikon is the 105 VR. That’s the one I want. There’s a 200mm one but it’s an overkill for me and way too expensive. What camera do you have?
This is an interestingly shaped rose, more angular than I am used to seeing. I love the diamond shape centered, it flows well with the leaf points. Beautiful color too π Always a great reminder to S.L.O.W. down. Thank you.
the shape and the leaves, yes, that’s what caught my attention too. In always moving a mile a minute in my head and have got to force myself to slooowwwww dowwnnnnnnn. π
Thank you so much! And hmm…I just noticed it says I’m not following you! Word Press does this sometimes, I kid you not. It unfollows people at random! I’m following you back. Sorry about that!
That’s ok. I’m following so many people right now that I actually have your page and a few others bookmarked so I don’t forget to look at them. There’s just so many people out there’s not enough time to keep up so I have to be selective. I’ve actually been too busy lately that I haven’t even posted any new photos myself since Sunday as I’ve been working more hours. I wish I had more time to be able to write about the photos I type but I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon. I also wish I could invest more time in photography but between work and family I’m lucky to get out and shoot once a month. I should be posting again this weekend though! Look forward to future posts from you. π
You can? I think I’ll pass on it although I’ve seen them on my plate in some restaurants, lol. Thank you for the compliment on how it looks though! π

Pity a photo cannot transmit an aroma as well… this rose looks as though it would have a very pleasant smell
May 29, 2014 at 8:11 am
It did as a matter of fact. They need scratch ‘n sniff word press!

I like the yellow captured in this one – not too bright but good and rich. Your garden? We have white iris blooming currently.
May 29, 2014 at 9:38 am
Thank you so much Robert. Yes it was. We are having a complete relandscape and this is one of the few we will keep. π The survivor!

Nice….are you using a macro lens? If so, what are you using. I have just been doing some research on macro lens and want to learn more.
