Lately I’ve been in the mood for a laugh. 😀 Awhile ago I had taken a photo of these golfing frogs and converted it into B&W. These little guys have been tucked away in a folder on my computer for a couple months I think. Believe it or not, I did quite a bit of work on this one. This is one of those images that I saw in B&W but converting it wasn’t easy.
The entire challenge can be found later on Leanne Cole’s Site “Monochrome Madness” so please check it out.

Ribbit… I won’t lie, I chuckled a bit when I first saw this. Great work incorporating comedy into your photo!

Golfing frogs… I love that… great photo… could have pictured this above my head in my office as a Golf Course Superintendent before I retired…

You were? How cool! I used to golf but not anymore. My hubby loves it. We still live on a golf course too. Thanks for your comment and glad you liked them. :))

July 1, 2014 at 7:36 am
What fun (and nicely captured). I love their shadows…
July 1, 2014 at 8:20 am
Thank you Priya. Funny you mention the shadows. It’s exactly why I thought this would make a good B&W. 🙂 And thank you for the reblog!
July 1, 2014 at 8:37 am
You’re quite welcome. I think it works wonderfully in black and white…makes those shadows pop!

Thank you!

Reblogged this on Click And Color and commented:

Simple, but difficult – sometimes I thinks the easier we think something is to shoot the more difficult it becomes when we attempt to execute our vision. Good one for the challenge.
July 1, 2014 at 8:28 am
Thank you Robert. You are spot on! I thought it would be a simple conversion but it wasn’t like that at all, but I was determined. 🙂
July 1, 2014 at 8:31 am
Never underestimate determined!

My slogan for myself is “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” It really applies to me.

Nice one… Sadly, I missed the challenge this week..

And thank you 🙂

Laura, this is great! Do you golf? I was a pro through my 20s, and though I often think golf nick nacks are terrible, I absolutely love these. Such a great image.
July 1, 2014 at 11:15 am
I used to golf and loved it. I golfed about three years and got to a 16. My physical issues don’t allow me to golf now and it’s why I do photography actually. My hubby is a 4. I don’t like the nick knacks either but loved these too. Thank you so much for liking the photo! :))

I wondered as much, because I’ve seen you write about some hand or wrist troubles in the past. I’m glad you found photography though.
July 1, 2014 at 6:11 pm
Yeah among others but that’s another blog. 🙂 I’m happy I found photography too. It’s been a lifesaver! Thank you for asking.

nice shadows too! Mr. Toad goes golfing- a forgotten chapter of Wind in the Willows!! Definitely a smile of the day!
July 1, 2014 at 11:48 am
The shadows are what caught my eye and why I saw it in B&W. Yay! Glad you had a 😀 for the day.
July 1, 2014 at 11:30 am
Great job Laura, this brought a much needed grin to my face, reminds me of the frog from the Wind in the Willows. 🙂
July 1, 2014 at 11:48 am
Glad you liked it. Funny, Cybele Moon said the same thing about Wind in the Willows. 😀
July 1, 2014 at 11:52 am
Yes I only saw that after, and Cybele is right Mr. Toad, not a frog. It was a unusual TV show back in the day. I think it was based on a book?
July 1, 2014 at 12:17 pm
I have to admit I’ve never heard of it or I’ve forgotten or it’s British in which case I would’ve never seen it, lol.
July 1, 2014 at 12:47 pm
Yeah it definitely from England 🙂

What happened to the club on the right figure? Seems out of shape!
July 1, 2014 at 12:53 pm
That’s just how they are…they are hand made so I guess they didn’t pay attention to detail. Or it got bent in all our moves lol.
July 1, 2014 at 1:18 pm
Interesting statues and a great subject for black and white, out of interest what was challenging about the conversion.
July 1, 2014 at 1:33 pm
It was a couple months ago so I forget the details but generally when I converted it, there was wayyyy too much texture because of the frogs and the wall. So I had to get rid of it which wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. The shadows got distorted when i converted as well so I had to do one for the shadows, one for the wall, and one for the frogs and combine it all. Basically mask upon mask. I remember it being many layers.

That is the sign of a true artist…..to make it look easy. 😉 Love these little guys….made me smile. 🙂
July 1, 2014 at 1:38 pm
i’m glad you smiled! And thank you 🙂
