This image was created from a shot I took up on Mt. Diablo of the sun setting over the valley.Β I love this time of evening…it’s so quiet and the burst of color before nightfall is like one last yawn before bedtime.

July 30, 2014 at 6:50 am
Absolutely stunning! So incredibly beautiful. And I love, love, love your analogy of the color before nightfall being like one last yawn! Perfect!
July 30, 2014 at 7:45 am
You are so generous with your comments. Thank you so much! I did kinda like the yawn analogy. π
July 30, 2014 at 7:13 am
I may be off on my art schools, but this is a great foray into abstract expressionism. I feel like you took a chance with this one and for me the image really pays off – I like the overall warmth with a touch of a contrasting cool tone in the upper left. I’d get a large Giclee print made and frame this one – I can see it hanging above a double sided fire place in a modernist interior.
July 30, 2014 at 7:46 am
I can see it there too Robert! Maybe SOME DAY someone will do just that with it. Never know! Thank you for your thoughtful comments. π

Laura this is the most brilliant description of a sunset I have ever read…”the burst of color before nightfall is like one last yawn before bedtime.” …. brilliant…
July 30, 2014 at 8:43 am
Thank you so much! I’m trying to be a bit more descriptive about how I felt taking the picture. I appreciate the feedback. :))
July 30, 2014 at 8:53 am
A picture is worth a thousand words? Well then, why not a thousand +? I am of the opinion that, a description of the struggle to get the shot, or the process afterwards, or the emotion you felt while shooting, only adds to the enjoyment of the image. Keep on writing. And photographing. You have a gift!
July 30, 2014 at 9:04 am
Aww thank you Emilio. I needed to hear that today. I appreciate your kind words.

July 31, 2014 at 6:55 am
One usually associates photography with detail, so the use of a photograph as a way of abstraction is a nice surprise.
