Knee Replacement #2

It’s time that I make an announcement that my second knee replacement (left leg) is scheduled for August 12.  This means that starting today, I will be less here than I have been before and not posting anything new at all after August 12 for awhile during my recovery.

The whole reason I started blogging over 1-1/2 years ago was solely to track the progress of my knee replacement.  I had very little experience with photography; but as I recovered, I delved more into it, got a new camera, and last year around this time I had started morphing my knee replacement blog into a photography blog.

For the last year I’ve been diligently working on improving my photography and photoshop skills, taking classes, getting help from friends, googling (lol), making wonderful friends, and loving my hobby!

Even though I won’t be posting photos after August 12 for awhile, my intent is to stay connected by checking the work of all of you!  You are the ones that will keep me in photography by viewing your photos and reading your blogs.  What I truly hope for is that you won’t feel that I’m intentionally ignoring your blogs because I will most likely be sporadic in my following and certainly my posting.  I have a few posts scheduled out for the next few days while I get some things done around here to ready myself for the surgery.

I’ll be back, I just don’t know when.  Thank you again EVERYONE for supporting what I do and being so generous with your help and comments!  I’ll be back as soon as I can!!

With much love,

Laura

  9. Laura,
I came in late to the knee surgery, so I just thought you were a great photographer. Thanks for the update/story behind your blogging. I wish all the best for you with your surgery and recovery. You may find that you miss the blogging community a lot. All the best to you!

  12. Good luck with the operation Laura. Your enthusiasm and passion for photography has always been an inspiration to me. Seeing what you were learning has helped me to learn while following you so I’m going to miss the LM postings. Also loved your goofy (goofy in a good way) personality, so I hope you have a speedy recovery. Yes, even if it means macros of your stitches, lol. Best wishes and hope to see you back and well soon.

  13. Good luck with your surgery – Glad you made the notice as your friends would have been concerned about your absence. You will be missed in the short-term, but I hope this will allow you to return with a (image) vengeance 🙂

  20. Blessings on the procedure and the recovery process 🙂 Thank you for sharing all these things with us, your WP fans ❤

  21. Good luck on your knee! Hopefully your recovery goes quickly and less painful!
Let me know how you are doing?is it the same doctor?

    • Helloooo Cathy! One of my original followers!!!! I think this knee will be easier because there is less surgery involved with straightening the leg…at least that’s what I hear lol. Same doctor. I will have a better physical therapist immediately this time now that I know who to go see. I wasted six weeks with the first PT. Thanks much Cathy. 🙂 How’s your knee?

      • Hi Laura,
My knee is doing great. I have had a few setbacks , fell off my bike. Then a few months ago was working out and something popped. I was going to PT for my back and asked him what he thought it was and he was thinking it might have been scar tissue breaking up which is what I was thinking. It is a lot better now and so much better than before surgery! I bet you will do great!

        • Great to hear Cathy! I’m so glad it wasn’t a negative thing in the end. Ouch! You must’ve been scared. I fell six months in, right on my kneecap. Ugh, that was not fun. But these knees are pretty strong.

  22. LM……..prayers your way, we will miss ya, but know you will be back stronger than ever and have a new view for all of us…..monos en theos…..jim

  23. Best wishes to you, Laura! I am sure everything will go well.

  51. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Whilst recovering you may like to view Melbourne Open House it is a Photographic Competition held here in Melbourne. It occurs in July over two days and this year it was held on 26th & 27th July. They open certain buildings where the public can go and view and there are others that you can only see if you enter a ballot. if you are lucky enough to get selected it is worthwhile. Melbourne is fortunate to have some beautiful iconic buildings. All the best and may you recover quickly.

  76. Only a year and a half? Great. Maybe there’s still hope for me! After all, I’ve already had the knee operation. (Not a replacement but I tend to cling to any and all similarities I can!) And now that you know what to expect, this second one should be easier! Lots of luck with a speedy recovery!

  77. Sending good thoughts your way and wishing you a good surgery and speedy recovery! Bon chance!!

  78. Wishing you well with your upcoming surgery Laura. With best wishes…Andrew 🙂

  79. I never would have guessed that you hadn’t been a photographer for decades! What a surprise! I think you know how much I love your work. It always brightens my day. Coincidently, I too am a future candidate for a knee replacement, stemming from a skiing accident. When the time comes, I will call on you for advice. In the meantime, although you are an old hand at this, I wish you a speedy and painless recovery. God bless and good luck.

  80. Being your second you know what you are in for so brave you in going forward. My husband had his done in May and now doing well but it’s a lot of work. Thoughts with you, Laura.

  81. I’m a little behind on my blog reading and I just noticed that WP decided to unfollow you on my behalf! My apologies for being so behind!

I hope all goes well with the knee replacement and you recover as quickly as possible. Take care. xo

    • Oh that happens to me too! It’s so annoying! No worries. 🙂 And thank you for the wishes. I hope to be back here soon at least reading everyone else’s posts. Only a few more days now…

  82. The important thing, Laura, is to be aggressively firm with your post-operative therapy– of course, you probably already know that. It’s just that I had loved ones who didn’t follow through with it. And to this day they avoid bending their knees in anticipation of the original pain. Good luck and get well soon. Peace.

    • Yes, I do agree and I was very good about it hte last time. I have other issues though in my body which make this a very challenging operation. But I have to do it unfortunately because my knees are shot (or I should say this one…I had the right one done 1-1/2 years ago and it is only ok mostly because of my other issues. I think this knee will do better because I didn’t wait so long and it’s much more of a “normal” leg than my other one. Thank you so much for your caring words and sage advice.

  83. Best wishes to you Laura and a speedy recovery

  84. Thanks for your visit, hope the surgery went well. Sending you healing wishes: http://anarette.com/2013/11/01/healing-wishes/

  85. I see you are back blogging. I hope you are recovering comfortably and quickly.

  86. LM……..I was thinking of you this morning. Hoping that your recovery is progressing. Look forward to hear you’re ready for a 10K LOL……if you are like me watching a 10k makes me weak…………blessings, peace and healing all over you………monos en theos…jim

    • Thank you Jim for thinking of me. I’m doing pretty good considering and am enjoying being home from the hospital. Ummya I don’t think I’ll be in a 10K anytime soon but I’ll look forward to getting behind my camera in a month or so. At least behind my computer in a couple weeks! Thanks for thinking of me. It means a lot. 😀

  87. Ahhhhhh….I knew I’d find it!!! Wow…2 new knees. I pray for you that it was a blazing success! And that you a rehabbing beautifully!!! ❤ ❤
