Point Lobos State Park

Point Lobos Natural Reserve is a California State Park and I’ve gotta say, it is absolutely stunning!Β  We went there last year and I realized that I didn’t like the way I processed the photo, so I revamped it here and am much happier with the way it looks and fits more with the style I’m doing now.

  1. Really lovely spot and a lovely image.
I like your processing Laura πŸ™‚
Keeping you in my thoughts x

  2. Love the colors Laura. Not sure what it looked like before but I think this processing is wonderful. πŸ™‚

  3. It’s true, but it is funny to think that we all have an idea of our particular styles – what fits and what doesn’t – to look back and rethink how you processed something is a good idea from time-to-time. Nice shot Laura!

    • Thank you Robert. πŸ™‚ Especially when I was sort of new to all this a year ago. I’ve learned more since then so I like to apply what I’ve learned to the old images.

  4. Beautiful shot. I often go back and re-process images as my techniques and vision change.

    • Thank you Ted. I appreciate it and you understand what it’s like to look back and go…EEEK! What was I thinking????????? Maybe I’ll do it again next year with this image lol.

  5. Beautiful capture and processing Laura. I can really see your “style” in all of your work. Cheers!

  6. I wanna sit on one of those rocks and dangle my mind (and feet) into those waters.

  7. What a gorgeous place and wonderful capture of it!

  8. I went to Point lobos once, as a child. I have vey fond memories of the day. You made it look even better then I remember. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Beautiful Laura. I was there last summer as well and fell in love with Point Lobos.

  12. Stunning shot Laura……I love it

  13. So beautiful there. One of the places I miss in California. Your photograph is gorgeous!

    • Thank you so much πŸ™‚ I’m glad you’ve been there. I’ve met people who’ve lived in the bay area all their lives that have not been there. It’s a must see!

  14. Very poetic, it seems like a Viking ship is going to arrive anytime.

  15. … Garden of Eden … Perfect, Laura! πŸ™‚

  16. Lovely photo, I like how you have created depth with the difference in saturation in the foreground and background.

  17. An excellent image, Laura. One of my favorite places to stop along the coast whenever I get a chance. Have you been down to McWay Falls? Another cool spot.

    • Thank you Robin πŸ™‚ No I haven’t but I’ve heard of it. I love the Big Sur area and hopefully next year when my knee is rehabbed I can go there! Thanks for the reminder. πŸ™‚

  18. That’s lovely Laura. The perspective is great, really leads you through the scene. It has a magical quality πŸ™‚

  19. You’ve stopped the clock … timeless .. I’m there sat dreaming Lol..

  20. Gorgeous, Laura! Your have created an image that is mystical, dramatic, and peaceful all at once. Not easy to do, but you, my friend, did it beautifully!

  21. Beautifully processed shot! Isn’t it interesting how we continue to evolve? Your statement about how the processing is closer to “the style I’m doing now” made me realize how much I am changing, too! Love Point Lobos! And this image!

    • Maybe next year I will think this image sucks lol! I have to head over to your blog now. I’ve been neglectful of many blogs lately getting ready for my surgery. My apologies. Thank you for interacting here. I love it!

  22. Stunning place and great capture. I like your processing. Id be interested to see what it was like previously and how you created your changes. Or is that like asking an artist to share their secrets lol. Superb shot Laura. πŸ™‚

ps good luck with your surgery

  23. It’s perfect Laura and what a beautiful spot!

  24. What a beautiful, dreamlike picture! I love this colours! πŸ™‚

  25. I know what you mean about re-working images πŸ˜‰ – our tastes change, our intent for the shot might change and our skills at processing and familiarity with the software get better …. we’ll NEVER be done with them πŸ™‚

    • True…I’ve realized that we will never be done. That is the fun of it too. Plus I know now what I like…vibrance and depth…I try to capture that feeling but I’m still new to developing my style. This is the best hobby in the world! Thank you for your comments.

  26. Beautiful photos. I am a native Californian and Point Lobos is one of my favorite places. I was there about a year ago with my husband and daughter on a gorgeous sunny day with whales spouting off the shore. Deer too. Just magical. Thanks for liking my guest blog post on Life in the Boomer Lane about retirement and transitions.

    • Thank you so much Deborah. I’m so glad you know this place. It truly IS magical. I enjoyed your post and you’re welcome. Photography is my 9-5 job replacement. I don’t know what I’d do without it!
