“Paper” Flowers – Monochrome Madness

It’s good to be back for MMC!  Hopefully I will be here each week from now on.  This week’s image is part of a flower arrangement I received as a get well from a friend of mine.  At first I loved the color but then all of a sudden I had this urge to process it in B&W.  I kind of like the paper flower look and hope you do as well.  Ahh…feels good to be back!

Please check out Leanne Cole’s blog later for the entire gallery.

  7. Welcome back. Hope the earthquake didn’t affect you.

    • Thanks George! Funy thing about that earthquake…That morning when I got up, I got an email from someone that asked if I was okay after the earthquake. Earthquake?? What earthquake? I looked at the news and was amazed. So I asked my husband when he came into the living room if he felt the earthquake. He looked at me wide-eyed and said that I woke up screaming about the earthquake, but I don’t even remember! I guess those meds I’m taking for pain for my knee replacement are working. LOL!

  8. Love the flowers Laura. Ready for a walk in the garden? Glad you’re back PB 🙂

  9. Beautiful! Welcome back Laura

  10. Hi Laura, welcome back!

  11. Welcome back. I love the shading on the petals that looks so dramatic in black and white.

  12. Fantastic, Laura! 🙂

  13. Such as lush black and white photograph. I love the subtle and rich tones of the petals. And the photograph is beautifully composed.

  17. Lovely entry Laura! And hope you are recovering well! 😊

  18. So happy to see your back Laura; hopefully fully recovered. You have been missed 🙂 These sunflowers are stunning, inspiring me take some of mine growing on our deck. Warmest good wishes…A

    • OMG I am so not fully recovered Andrew, but thank you for your wishes. It will be months before I am that…knee replacements are serious and take a long time to recover from. I will be intermittent here for while I fear. It’s fun taking pics when I can….as long as they are in the house lol.

  19. Another beautiful job!

  20. Great shot Laura! I was just looking at a some flowers my wife has sitting on the dining room table thinking I should shoot them. They are an array of colors. I’m too tired right now which gets in the way of my creativity so hopefully in the next few days they’ll still have life in them that I can capture. Happy you are still in good spirits and things seem to be going along fine. Hope it continues like this for you.

    • I know what you mean justin. I’m so tired and sore this evening and the last thing I want to do is take pics. Hope to see those flowers on your dining room table! And thanks for the positive feedback on my image. 🙂

  21. Gorgeous get well flowers… seems like they’re doing the job.
You sound a bit better 🙂
Really do like the processing in black and white!

  22. Excellent tones and texture

  23. Hooray, welcome back!!

  24. Very nice image Laura, and welcome back.

  25. Stunning as usual my dear. You know I’m going to have to get my thesaurus out to find more words that are just like stunning I think. lol

  26. I have a feeling I should make it a more regular practice to try B&W versions of shots I like; this is a perfect reminder that even things that I think of as being most beautiful *for* their rich and saturated colors have other fantastic attributes that I can delight in when the color isn’t stealing the show. Lovely!

Hope you’re feeling better at high speed!!!

    xoxo,
    Kath

  28. i like this B&W version.

  29. Lovely capture, I think b&w just makes me focus on the textures more. My internet has been patchy but glad to have you back Laura! 🙂
