Our local mountain, Mt. Diablo, is usually very windy up at the summit. The mountain is just over 3,800 feet and there can be a dramatic temperature difference from the bottom to the summit. I love how the wind sweeps over the grass that has yet to turn green.

December 19, 2014 at 6:29 am
Yup! 😀
December 19, 2014 at 1:40 am
OK, now I KNOW you are working with oils on canvas and then photographing them…Your image really is grand – and has a very Hudson River School feel to it. You certainly have this processing technique down. Very impressive work!
December 19, 2014 at 6:30 am
I can’t fool you can I! (rhetorically said) 😉 We’ll see what happens with future images. I wouldn’t do this on every one of them, but it is fun to do! Thank you!
December 19, 2014 at 2:06 am
I like that oil painting effect in Photoshop. You’ve applied it very nicely on this shot.
December 19, 2014 at 6:31 am
Yeah me too….it’s a shame they removed it from PSCC. But I have ways of creating it now without the PS filter.
December 19, 2014 at 6:37 am
I don’t have PSCC, so I still have it.
December 19, 2014 at 6:43 am
Ohh yeah they took it away. There was a reason for it, I forget.
December 19, 2014 at 2:35 am
looks more like a painting, wonderful
December 19, 2014 at 6:31 am
Glad you like the painting effect. 🙂
December 19, 2014 at 3:16 am
Very nice. Did you use the Topaz Impression filter?
December 19, 2014 at 6:35 am
Thank you Rich. I actually used three. Topaz Restyle, Impression and Nik Analog and then I used Photoshop to dodge and burn.
December 19, 2014 at 3:30 am
Oh my, this is so beautiful, almost surreal. I love it.
December 19, 2014 at 6:35 am

What a lovely rendering of your photograph. I like the effect you got from the vignette too.
December 19, 2014 at 6:36 am
Thanks so much James. I was kind of thinking the vignette may be a bit strong but a few have mentioned they like it.
December 19, 2014 at 6:59 am
Interesting technique. What did you use? Pretty awesome
December 19, 2014 at 7:05 am
Thank you. I’m glad you like it. Well…like everything I used multiple things with masks. But mostly it was Topaz Restyle, Topaz Impression, Nik Analog and a little dodging and burning along the way.

We were up on a mountain in Salem District of Tamil Nadu India one year and watched the clouds rise from the bottom of the mountain to the summit. Actually it was a cold front that swept in and the clouds literally rolled up the mountain. I did not think of taking a photo then, but now I wished I had.
December 24, 2014 at 6:50 am
That would be a lot more amazing than our Mt. Diablo, that’s for sure!
December 24, 2014 at 4:16 am
Beautifully done Laura.
December 24, 2014 at 6:52 am
Thank you so much Declan. 🙂
January 14, 2015 at 8:23 pm
The photograph is absolutely lovely, and I don’t know if I ever mentioned it yet, but I really like your banner. For some reason, it hits that same chord in me that responds so well to Science Fiction novels. It’s beautiful.
January 14, 2015 at 9:00 pm
Thank you so much for your kind comments! I was getting tired of the balloon header so I thought this one was a nice change. 🙂
