Hayward Japanese Tea Garden – Showoff

This is the last in the series from the Hayward Japanese Tea Garden.  I really milked this outing for all it’s worth lol.

This image I created to be a more graphical representation of a tree in the garden.  Originally the thought was to make it more like Japanese brush strokes but I’m not well enough to focus on doing anything too new, so I went with what I know already.   Looking forward to getting out soon!

  1. Just lovely and I hope you are feeling better soon πŸ™‚

  2. Outings like this are the best. Another great image.

  3. This is a brilliant image, and love what you did to it to make the leafy orange tree stand out amongst all the others leaves. It could have so easily drowned in all the greenery πŸ˜€ It’s probably just me, but this photo looks like it borders on being a watercolour painting and a photograph. Very nicely done.

Milked the outing for all it’s worth? Glad you found inspiration on your outing. That almost never happens to me when I am taking photos outdoors most of the time πŸ˜€

    • Thank you Mabel. It is sort of watercolor-ish isn’t it. I thought it had a sketch-like quality to it as well. Kind of an in betweener. I’m thinking my new camera is helping me get better images. I really love it. Thank you Mabel. πŸ™‚

  4. I have enjoyed being with you here…so don’t worry about “milking” the location – but that’s coming from a guy who could often open a dairy with all the shots he shows from one location πŸ™‚

  5. Lovely picture Laura. I wish you better

  6. Reblogged this on Oyia Brown.

  7. intriguing – quite like a fairy tale

    • Yes! Thank you for seeing that Diana. It’s exactly what I was thinking!!!

      • Yes indeed. It has the quality of a coloured block print that you would find in an illustrated book of fairy tales.

I make a lot of use of the free plug-in from Redfield to create a line layer when producing a painterly or pencil effect. provides quite a bit of control & modification, especially when combined with other effects. πŸ™‚

  8. Superb piece! πŸ™‚
We hope you will be feeling better! My wife and I are all too familiar with physical problems… especially my wife. She has Wilson’s Disease, dystonia, and mostly eats via a gastrostomy tube.

  9. Great like effect– looks very painterly.

  10. Lovely! And I had to do a second take – it really looks like a painting.

  11. Saving the best to last Laura πŸ˜‰

  12. Like I said before, beautiful. Love the painterly effect.

  18. Lovely! I’ve enjoyed your series from the Hayward Japanese Tea Garden. I really hope you are feeling better!

  19. Love the pop of color in the tree!

  20. I love how the red colour of the tree stands out from all the green. Terrific work πŸ™‚

    Have a great Monday!
