Lately I haven’t been taking many pictures because I’ve been busy trying to get a storefront up connected to my website. I use Smugmug to house all my photos and soon I will have links on every photo which take you to a storefront to purchase prints and even pillows!
To see what I mean, here’s an oldie but a goodie. If you click on it you will be taken to my website and at the bottom of the image you will see “click here”. If you click that, it’ll take you to the storefront. Just in case you’re curious. 🙂
There are a lot of images to deal with so it’ll take me a few more days to get all the links inserted into the images and then I’ll have time for photos. It’s windy and chilly here anyway, so I’m making the best of the time.
Hope you all had a great weekend!

You just want to dive in, don’t you?
May 11, 2015 at 3:09 pm
Yes! It does look like that doesn’t it. 🙂 Or sit against the trunk contemplating the universe. 🙂
May 11, 2015 at 3:15 pm
This is beautiful!

Reblogged this on O LADO ESCURO DA LUA.
May 11, 2015 at 3:50 pm
May I sit a spell with you, Laura, under that tree to dream our Dreams together? And about the storefront …. oh wow, I wish you tons of good luck!! You deserve this, and, Luv, please takes lots of notes so that when it is my turn to step out, you could perhaps be my counselor. Maybe? (((HUGS))) Amy ❤
May 11, 2015 at 4:03 pm
Pull up a blade of grass and have a seat! Thank you Amy. Not that I expect to sell much but when people have asked to purchase I always feel so unprepared to print and frame. This makes it soooo easy for everyone. and yes sure! We can share a screen on skype and I can show you some things. Be happy to. 🙂
May 12, 2015 at 12:29 pm
That day will not be for a while. I would like to concentrate instead on a book, perhaps beginning when the weather turns cold again. I am backing up my posts from Petals that I will be using for my book. Hmmmm …. this blade of grass does have the neurons spinning. Thank you, Laura. LOL
May 12, 2015 at 2:58 pm

No worries. It happens a lot!
May 11, 2015 at 4:12 pm
Hi Laura I am so happy for you!! Something I would love to do with my baskets one day. It may come. 🙂
May 11, 2015 at 4:17 pm
Thanks Mitch! Oh you should! Maybe Etsy. You’d probably do well. Your baskets are so beautiful!
May 11, 2015 at 4:20 pm
Many Thanks Laura! I have been looking into and Etsy Shop. I just have to get inventory made up.
May 11, 2015 at 4:23 pm

May 11, 2015 at 4:45 pm
Thanks so much kaz. I’m glad you like it! Hopefully I’ll have something to report after a few months lol. I’d like to think this wasn’t for nothing. Makes me feel like I’m doing something though! 🙂
May 11, 2015 at 4:47 pm
Yes exactly, its putting it all out there and you may be surprised at what you get back in return 🙂
May 11, 2015 at 4:48 pm
Oh yes…and this hits home on all levels!

May 11, 2015 at 5:31 pm
Aww sorry you had a bad experience. :-(. Thanks for the good wishes!
May 11, 2015 at 5:44 pm
What a beautiful, peaceful feeling I have just looking at this.
May 11, 2015 at 6:10 pm
That’s awesome you feel this from the image. Not too long after, one of the trees broke after 35 years so I’m glad I took this.
May 11, 2015 at 5:58 pm
Beautiful image Laura and the storefront looks great.
May 11, 2015 at 6:09 pm
Thank you so much Edith. Fun to see this come together.
May 11, 2015 at 6:53 pm
oOo…i will have a look now.
May 11, 2015 at 8:25 pm
Hope you like it!
May 11, 2015 at 11:33 pm
I do ☺. I left some comments.
May 12, 2015 at 6:55 am
Aww thank you! I see you left them on my smugmug site. 🙂 I hope you got my email thanking you.
May 12, 2015 at 8:12 am
I will have a look. Thank you.
May 12, 2015 at 6:17 pm
What email address was it? Yahoo?
May 12, 2015 at 7:31 pm
Oh I see you found it. 🙂
May 12, 2015 at 7:33 pm
thank you. I wasn’t sure if it was going to Gmail. (i don’t use my Gmail account)
May 12, 2015 at 7:34 pm
You’re welcome. I have several old ones too.
May 11, 2015 at 6:55 pm
This is an excellent idea and I was going to buy two of your prints in card form. But discovered each box of 10 was $42. Is that the going rate on the website? Seems kind of steep.
May 11, 2015 at 7:21 pm
Hmm I just went in there and adjusted the price but it seems with my revision that Fine Art America’s base price is $19.25 for pack of 10. Try it now for one pack of 10 and let me know what you get. $42 is ridiculous!
May 11, 2015 at 7:34 pm
Hmm you know what? They ARE that price but I went and lowered it so that my profit is hardly anything. I just tried looking at other greeting card prices and they are all expensive. I guess that’s what the going rate is there. Thank you for trying!
May 12, 2015 at 6:36 am
Just me again…Ihave to admit, you are the first person that started looking at purchases and I’m trying to get my prices down to a reasonable level. I’m working with another member there who’s been doing this for years so hopefully my greeting card prices are good right now. I think they are reasonable compared to others at Fine Art America. So *if* you’re still interested, click on this link, scroll down to where it says click here and check it out. Sorry to be such a pain but you’ve REALLY helped me a lot in looking at these prices. Thank you! http://www.lauramacky.com/Galleries/Land–Sea/i-TJzsPhd/A
May 11, 2015 at 7:32 pm
Hope it blooms. Blessings. vw
May 11, 2015 at 7:49 pm
Thank you! Me too although I’m not hoping for too much.
May 12, 2015 at 6:27 pm
With God anything is possible…Hope and hope some more….. vw
May 12, 2015 at 7:30 pm
Yes!!!
May 11, 2015 at 8:51 pm
I remember being impressed with this photo the first time round, Laura, but really want to congratulate you on your storefront – impressive! I wish you great success with it. – Shelagh 😀
May 11, 2015 at 9:46 pm
Thank you so much! I’m glad you like the image. It’s sentimental to me because those trees are off our back deck and one of them split and fell last year so I’m glad I captured them before that happened.
May 11, 2015 at 9:51 pm
Very welcome, and isn’t it nice you captured it when you did?
May 12, 2015 at 6:54 am
yes for sure! I can see them right now. Or part of them lol.
May 12, 2015 at 7:09 am
That’s a lovely view you must enjoy. We’re spoiled (smart!) to live in such gorgeous areas. 🙂
May 12, 2015 at 7:11 am
We are smart and spoiled! I can’t imagine moving.
May 12, 2015 at 7:15 am
😀
May 11, 2015 at 9:58 pm
Good luck with your store Laura ! The gallery of your pictures looks fantastic 🙂
May 12, 2015 at 6:55 am
Thank you poppy! I’m almost done uploading everything and revising prices as I go along. I had no idea what to put and put a friend’s prices but they were way too high. yipes!
May 11, 2015 at 10:33 pm
A winner.
May 12, 2015 at 6:55 am
Thank you!
May 12, 2015 at 12:58 am
fantastic Laura- what fun!! Good luck with it!! Beautiful prints!
May 12, 2015 at 6:56 am
Thank you Hannah. Kind of exciting! I’m still uploading…takes awhile to do….and adjusting my prices. Hopefully I will sell something! If not, it looks good right? 😛
May 12, 2015 at 9:14 am
it’s great!!! I might take a peek at some point at that fine art site too and there is another someone told me about similar! In the meantime I have bookmarked yours!
May 12, 2015 at 9:31 am
FAA is fairly cheap. I like that. I also love how you can double matte things and pick lots of frames. It is really amazing! But people are now commenting on my images. LOL I don’t know if I can handle more social networking! You and I should talk sometime via skype btw.
May 13, 2015 at 8:55 am
hey Laura it sounds like a fun project and hope you will sell!! yes, I have a skype profile somewhere I think- I used to use it but now I have a samsung tv monitor so no cam but I will look up my skype to give you! I have your email.
May 13, 2015 at 9:46 am
Sounds fun! Email me your skype contact @ info@lauramacky.com and we’ll set something up!
May 12, 2015 at 3:52 am
Hey Laura. Super image, I just went and had a look at the site! Wow ..
May 12, 2015 at 6:57 am
Yay! Glad you like it Julie! Just fyi…I updated my prices as they were too high. I had no idea what I was doing. Hopefully they will settle down now. lol
May 12, 2015 at 7:28 am
Zenfolio has a built in e commerce feature, about $130 per year the last time I checked. When I looked at Smugmug a few years ago their TOS specified non consensual photographs of people were not allowed. Since I do a lot of street photography I had to pass on that one. Please stop by, I have tons of new stuff.
May 12, 2015 at 9:07 am
Weird about SM and not being able to do non-consensual photos. What a pain! I”m on the cheapest SM plan because I didn’t like their selling module. Fine Art is cheap at $30/year. I don’t dare try to make yet another switch but thanks for the info. I’ll check you out. I like to see what others are using.
May 12, 2015 at 9:07 am
As soon as you give me the link that is. lol
May 12, 2015 at 10:32 am
Go with your plan.
May 12, 2015 at 2:47 pm
Oh I will but you invited me to look and I just wanted to look
May 12, 2015 at 9:00 am
Congratulations with the store front. I hope it will be successful. And the image in this post is gorgeous.
May 12, 2015 at 9:05 am
Thank you so much Otto! It’s occupying a lot of my time right now but hopefully it’ll be worth it in the end. People have asked to purchase my images and I’ve never had a method that’s easy for everyone. It means a lot that you love the image! Thank you. 🙂
May 12, 2015 at 11:03 am
The business end has a way of getting in the way of the creative…
May 12, 2015 at 2:48 pm
So I’ve noticed!
May 12, 2015 at 1:15 pm
Well, that’s verra cool. I like all the options for prints. This is a beautiful image by the way. Great success, Laura!
May 12, 2015 at 2:58 pm
Thank you Elen! I like the options to print as well. Double matting online? Pretty spiffy!
May 12, 2015 at 5:30 pm
GORGEOUS photo as always, Laura! Congrats on the storefront too!!!
May 12, 2015 at 6:08 pm
Thank you K’lee! I hope to finish it up in another few days. Then I can get back to photography. 😀
May 13, 2015 at 7:05 am
LOL! I know what you mean… Like you, I enjoyed the process of constructing mine, but I’m much happier with camera in hand, or working on my book(s).
May 13, 2015 at 8:31 am
Geez…it’s SOOOO tedious. Glad you can relate! I’m still doing it ugh lol. I miss my camera too but at least the weather hasn’t been that great ha!
May 13, 2015 at 8:37 am
LOL! It is tedious! I have to find ways to reward myself for getting through each patch! You’re right about the weather; sun, cold, and wind do not make for great photo shoots outdoors! I’ll be doing some ‘rebooting’ of my stores over the next days so, yes, you’ve got company… we can do it!
May 13, 2015 at 8:38 am
hehehe yes we can!! Good luck with yours too!
May 13, 2015 at 8:41 am
Thanks, Laura. Have a great day!
May 13, 2015 at 8:43 am
You’re welcome and you too!
May 14, 2015 at 6:38 pm
Nice. Hope you can make it happen
May 14, 2015 at 9:11 pm
Than you. I really appreciate it. 🙂
May 14, 2015 at 11:02 pm
Great looking storefront, Laura! I can tell that you’ve spent a lot of time working on this. I love this picture. It is so peaceful. I could just stare at the reflections all day long.
May 15, 2015 at 6:53 am
Thank you so much Kirsten! I’m excited to finish. I’ve been stalling the last day because it’s so tedious. And thank you for the compliment about the photo. Only a year later, one of those trees broke in half so I’m glad I managed to get it before that happened!
May 17, 2015 at 10:23 am
The store is just amazing Laura. Congratulations. How great to have all your photos in one place. Best wishes 🙂
May 17, 2015 at 11:30 am
Yay…glad you like it! I love having a place to display them and now to sell them too.
May 18, 2015 at 11:47 pm
nice picture, i like the part where the reflection…I can see the view on the water…
May 22, 2015 at 11:07 pm
pleasant surprise: I took almost the same photo around a tiny lake of our village… 🙂
May 23, 2015 at 6:38 am
Oh how funny! I’d love to see it if you do. Ping me back if you ever take a photo and post it on your blog please. 🙂
June 1, 2015 at 12:08 pm
How are you getting on with the storefront Laura? I’m thinking of doing something similar myself, and I’m keen to see how others have got on with online selling.
June 1, 2015 at 2:04 pm
I’ve sold about four things but it takes awhile to get it out there y’know? I had to put links on all my photos and that’s what took forever. I really like Fine Art America and the way you interact with the site as a purchaser. It’s really the best I’ve seen. Let me know if you get one up and running!
June 2, 2015 at 10:33 am
Thanks. I have a number of images up on Flickr, but you only seem to be able to have your images available for commercial licensing by invitation only, and I have no control over that. I may take a look at Smugmug.
June 2, 2015 at 12:31 pm
I have smug mug but have sold hardly ANYTHING there. It’s a great website for display purposes but I don’t like their store. I display my images on SM but if you click any of my images, it takes you to Fine Art America. That’s where my store is. And yes, Flickr won’t let us put links to stores. I already had to change mine lol. Now it’s a link to my SM. That seems to be ok.
June 3, 2015 at 8:42 am
Thanks Laura – that’s useful info. I’ll keep searching.
June 3, 2015 at 9:13 am
You’re welcome. 🙂
