The Golden State

Many people think California is called “The Golden State” because of the gold rush but it’s actually because the hills turn golden brown in the summer and the fields of poppies that bloom in the springtime.  This was taken up on Mt. Diablo about a month ago.  I really love the majestic oaks that dot the hillsides.

  1. Every once in a while you see a magnificent tree like that in such a lovely setting.

  2. Makes me think of the Kate Wolf song ‘Here in California.’

  3. Could be Australia….

  4. Your photographs have a very painterly feel to them with your current processing – looks like they could almost be WPA murals. I do like this treatment. How goes the FAA sale site?

    • I have a feeling I’m migrating toward that look. I really enjoy that style I think as long as it’s not “too much”. Gotta strike the right balance. I’ve sold only four things from FAA. But at least I have it. It’s so cheap and now that it’s set up, not much to maintaining it. Maybe SOME day I will sell more. Thanks for asking. 🙂

  5. Like a beautiful painting!
