I inadvertently posted this a few days ago so I rescheduled it to post today which is the day it should’ve posted. Sorry if a lot of you have already seen it!!
It’s that time again….One Photo Focus is here! Every month Stacy gives us a photo and we edit it to come up with our own take. Below you’ll find my image as well as the original which was provided by Robin Kent, so thanks Robin to a really fun image this month! And if you have time, check out Stacy’s blog to see everyone’s submissions. Quite fun to see what everyone comes up with.
I wonder if my recent viewing of Jurassic World had anything to do with my edit lol.
Basic Process:
1. Inserted two dinosuars…of the walking and flying sort.
2. Isolated white house and reduced the brightness of it so the image felt more balanced.
3. Colorized and added texture to image via Nik Analog filter.
4. Colorized the eye and tongue of the tyrannosaurus rex.
5. RAWR!
Thank you one again Stacy for coordinating this fun challenge.

This is so cool! Thanks for sharing π

Thanks for looking!
July 1, 2015 at 7:43 am
You’re welcome π Glad you like it!
July 1, 2015 at 5:12 am
I love what you’ve done with it. Also makes a striking point, somehow, about where the US and everywhere around the world is going.
July 1, 2015 at 6:53 am
Thank you. Funny, I thought the very same thing as I was creating this.
July 1, 2015 at 5:48 am
That’s awesome.
July 1, 2015 at 6:53 am
Thank you Dan. Cracks me up.
July 1, 2015 at 7:17 am
Great job. I love it.
July 1, 2015 at 7:43 am
Thank you π hehe
July 1, 2015 at 7:48 am
This is great fun. My kids love it and wanted to know if I could photoshop a dinosaur into a photo of our house and them. I had to disappoint them but perhaps this image will inspire them to learn how to photoshop.
July 1, 2015 at 7:52 am
Glad you liked it. How funny that your kids asked that question. I hope they get inspiration! That would be the best thing EVER for me to give inspiration.
July 1, 2015 at 7:54 am
My oldest (12) has done some basic photoshopping. I have the programme just for correcting things and cropping. Creative use is beyond me (and I only have Elements) but perhaps they will run with it and have more fun.
July 1, 2015 at 7:59 am
You can do this with Elements. As long as you have the capability of creating layers which I think Elements does. Depending on the version. i think 4 years ago it might not’ve had that capability but I’m not sure. I love Dave Cross from Adobe for explaining layers. That’s the power of photoshop and the core of it. So if they know about layers, they can do anything!
July 1, 2015 at 8:06 am
I think he’s just getting into layers. I will have to direct him to watch YouTube tutorials as he learns by seeing more than by reading.
July 1, 2015 at 8:37 am
*jaw dropping* OH wow!!! How you did this I have NO idea but the outcome is mind blowing!! Your processing skills are awesome, Laura. I hope to one day know how to do something like this. Time and Life ….. hmmmmm ….. no comment. π GREAT JOB!!! (((HUGS))) Amy β€
July 3, 2015 at 7:49 am
Thank you Amy! I think that dinosaur is dropping his jaw too! hehehe
July 3, 2015 at 8:47 am
Laura, I was just over at Stacy’s site and I must admit, your image with THE most original. Hehehehehe What an imagination!!! Dinasours and the White House. Who would have thought except for YOU! LOL
July 3, 2015 at 1:47 pm
Aww really?? Thank you Amy! You know me…I like to be different. π Yes me and my crazy mind BWAHAHAHA!
July 1, 2015 at 9:34 am
So very creative.
July 3, 2015 at 7:49 am
Thank you Cee. I like to be “out there” y’know? π
July 1, 2015 at 9:36 am
Woow… !! The processing is beyond me. Amazing result, Laura!
July 3, 2015 at 7:49 am
I’m so glad you like it Amy, thank you!!

July 3, 2015 at 6:29 am
Thank you Eddie! It was a fun one to do.
July 3, 2015 at 5:09 am
Well worth seeing twice! Very cool dinosaurs! π
July 3, 2015 at 6:29 am
twice lol…silly me! Thank you! π
July 3, 2015 at 5:26 am
Yes I wondered what that was all about. Had ISIS unleashed it’s herd of T-Rex’s on Washington and no one had told me….
July 3, 2015 at 6:29 am
They’re making their way across the country. Soon they’ll be at city hall in SF lol.
July 3, 2015 at 6:00 am
great idea! and so professionally executed!
July 3, 2015 at 6:30 am
Thank you so much klara π
July 3, 2015 at 6:06 am
love love love this Laura! I’ve seen Jurassic World twice and can’t wait to go again. What a cool response!
July 3, 2015 at 6:30 am
Thank you so much! I enjoyed the movie too. Not as good as the first, but the first is a classic. I thought JW was really good and loved Ron Howard’s daughter as the lead.
July 3, 2015 at 8:55 am
OMG, Ron Howard’s daughter??? I had absolutely NO idea. Now I must see it again with new eyes… π
July 3, 2015 at 1:48 pm
Oh yes! Bryce Howard. I think that’s her name. She’s been in a few things but I think this is her first lead if I’m not mistaken.
July 3, 2015 at 2:35 pm
Good for her. I love Ron Howard’s movies. Little Opie has definitely created an empire π
July 3, 2015 at 6:32 am
This is fantastic, Laura! I saw ‘Jurassic Park’ recently and wouldn’t mind a dinosaur outbreak in say Golden Gate Park?
July 3, 2015 at 6:36 am
Thank you K’lee. haha yes! Funny, back when I lived there in my early 20’s, I’d walk inside GGB and notice those huge prehistoric looking trees and thought the same thing!
July 3, 2015 at 6:43 am
See? The perfect setup. Dinosaurs would LOVE Golden Gate Park! People? Maybe not so much…
July 3, 2015 at 6:47 am
They would have snacks of homeless people. Whoops, did I say that???? Terrible I know. π
July 3, 2015 at 6:55 am
I think I just choked on my sweet potatoes! Unfortunately, you may be right… or dinosaurs would let them live and go after only those humans walking around with the glowing screens in front of their faces all the time? I mean, their visual acuity IS based on movement and light, right?
July 3, 2015 at 7:05 am
Shall I call 911? lol But I think you’re right. They’d be attracted to the glowing screens. I’d better put mine away!
July 3, 2015 at 7:14 am
No, no (cough, cough, hack!) I’m fine, but thank you! I can see it now… quite a few would NEVER put them away. They’d have the sense to run, but what’s happening on the screen would be way more important than some forty-foot dinosaur chasing them! Eventually many would just stop… in the middle of the street or park, reengage with said screen and provide easy pickings!
July 3, 2015 at 7:16 am
Whew, glad you’re ok over there!
July 3, 2015 at 6:44 am
Now I’ve seen the others, I can tell you that yours is my favourite!
July 3, 2015 at 6:48 am
Thank you so much! I was laughing the whole time I was making it lol.

Thanks so much for reblogging this Sharon! I was smiling the entire time I was making this image lol.

So, reading through your replies to comments, yours IS a political statement π Such awesomeness, Laura. Love the well-balanced tone and the touch of turquoise in the TRex’s eye! You make the process sound so easy, but after struggling with trying to adjust the saturation on the Capitol on my interpretation, I’m not convinced π Thanks for listing the tip about Dave Cross. I will definitely be looking him up!
Thanks, always, for your enthusiasm for 1PF and thanks for reposting!
July 3, 2015 at 1:49 pm
Thank you for liking those little touches I put in the edit. π I would be happy to Skype with you and share my screen sometime if you want a quick lesson in layers. Dave cross is awesome but his courses can be pricey. But once you own them you can go back and review them over and over. That’s what I did. You’re welcome for the enthusiasm … now I’ll work on my scheduling LOL!
July 3, 2015 at 2:40 pm
LOL right back π You’ve been so kind to offer that option before, Laura. I don’t quite know how skype works but I’ll ask my teenaged daughter. I’m traveling for the next few weeks but perhaps once I’m back we may be able to set something up that works with your schedule. π
July 3, 2015 at 2:52 pm
Sounds good and my pleasure! Probably after the 22nd would work best for us. We are starting a remodel and are moving out for a couple months. Enjoy your trip!
July 3, 2015 at 2:54 pm
Wow! Good luck with THAT!!
July 3, 2015 at 3:04 pm

Really, really cool! When I saw it I thought it was one of Ben Rowe’s creations. You surprised me. Love it.
July 3, 2015 at 1:51 pm
Glad I surprised you and that you liked my edit. π Watch out Ben! i’m a-comin’ for ya! π
July 3, 2015 at 11:01 am
Well, all I can say is it’s a good thing this wasn’t a contest because I think we would have a winner. You just keep getting better every time I see your work- which is almost daily. And my jealousy grows exponentially. You, know, they say no matter how good you are, there’s always someone better. But do you have to be so much better? (I bet you’re beautiful, too. Talented and beautiful. It must be a curse!)
July 3, 2015 at 1:53 pm
You are so sweet and I’m officially embarrassed now! Thank you Emilio for your boost of confidence. I really LOVE photoshop. And yes *sighs*…such a huge cross for me to bear with all this beauty and talent. *cough cough* LOL! Hope you are having a great Friday. π
July 3, 2015 at 11:17 am
So which one is the original White House photo?
July 3, 2015 at 1:54 pm
Hmm touch choice eh? π I think you are being facetious but just in case you’re not…the one without the dinosaur. My edit is the dinosaur. π
July 3, 2015 at 11:52 am
jaw dropping, Laura. This is photo editing at it’s best, as far as I see it. Great interpretation and imagination! LOVE.
July 3, 2015 at 1:54 pm
Thank you so much Carrie! I think I saw this on CNN the other day hahaha.
July 3, 2015 at 12:41 pm
Wow! You have the best imagination .. I bet you were laughing! Great editing L π
July 3, 2015 at 1:55 pm
Oh Julie…you KNOW I was cracking up. Seriously…I was getting a kick out of it even down to the touch of pink on the T-rex’s tongue lol! Thanks so much…high compliment from you!!
July 3, 2015 at 1:37 pm
Yes on the monochromeβ¦well done.
July 3, 2015 at 1:55 pm
Thanks Robert π I was chuckling as I was making it. π
July 3, 2015 at 2:18 pm
Fantastic edit, Laura. I nearly fell out my chair when I saw it this morning. Absoutely wonderful. You could license this as a poster for a sci-fi movie or book cover.
July 3, 2015 at 2:50 pm
Thank you Robin…what a nice thing to say! Good you didn’t completely fall out! lol I really adored your image this week. π
July 3, 2015 at 4:07 pm

You have created a splendid composite image. It seamlessly done, and I think the colorization made it all very coherent. It’s a great picture!

Thank you so much for the compliment Otto! I really enjoyed making this one. π
July 3, 2015 at 5:11 pm

July 4, 2015 at 6:42 am
Thank you so much Kirsten! I take it you found the movie entertaining? RAWR! lol
July 4, 2015 at 9:33 am
The movie was great!! Then again I’m a sci-fi dinosaur geek! Lol. I think I might have even like it more than the original, but that could have something to do with Chris Pratt! π
July 4, 2015 at 9:41 am
Chris Pratt is definitely eye candy so I can see why. π
July 4, 2015 at 9:43 am
Lol- oh so true!! Loved him in Guardians of the Galaxy too π
July 4, 2015 at 9:44 am
You’re a die hard!
July 4, 2015 at 9:47 am
Lol. I grew up with all the music they played in the movie so it made it great fun :-). Music and eye candy can’t go wrong with those
July 4, 2015 at 10:33 am
I don’t even remember what music it was. I guess I don’t pay attention. :]

July 4, 2015 at 11:33 am
This is awesome! Great job! I love the extra color that you added to the T-Rex’s eyes and tongue. π
July 4, 2015 at 11:51 am
GRINS. Thank you Nic! Glad you liked those additions. π
July 4, 2015 at 11:40 am
Laura you did a great job with this challenge! I loved the way you got the idea to add the dinosaurs and bring the photo back to a Mesozoic Era at the dinosaurs age. I looks great! I love the color base you gave and the hint of color in the eyes and tongue that is a cool plus π I am sure that you had lots of fun doing it π
July 4, 2015 at 11:51 am
Hi Carolina. π Thank you so much! I was enjoying myself for sure. π
July 4, 2015 at 6:25 pm
fantabulous and perfect for Jurassic World opening. I just love people running and screaming!! Do you know I found a coprolite on one of our cretaceous tours. It’s sitting on my table and I don’t let people know what it is till they pick it up or touch it. lol
July 5, 2015 at 7:18 am
I would’ve loved to plunk in Obama in the dinosaur’s mouth but I thought that might piss people off lol. You did? WOW! That’s amazing.
July 5, 2015 at 8:38 am

Great imagination and a fun image. I loved your comment about plunking Obama in the dinosaur’s mouth. You might have had CIA parking outside your door though.
July 8, 2015 at 10:01 am
Thank you about the image. Ah you saw that eh? Hopefully I am not being watched! lol I would’ve put any president on any side in that dinosaur’s mouth. π
