I cannot help myself….the coast attracts me like no other place. Perhaps because it’s accessible to me or perhaps it’s because I was a seaman (or seawoman) in a past life! All I know is that I love it. 🙂
This was taken at Drake’s Beach which is part of the Point Reyes National Seashore. What an amazing area with so much wildlife and beauty to behold that I can never tire of it.
There is something about our rocky coast that makes me aware of how small we human beings really are and I love how it magnifies the incredible majesty of Mother Nature.

This is such a great shot, I love that you have people in the image I am guessing that are mostly Photographers, but it really makes it such an interesting image to look at.
December 7, 2015 at 7:10 pm
Thank you Mike. They are photographers and I’m glad you like the people in it. Gives the photo so much more perspective me thinks. 🙂

December 7, 2015 at 4:17 pm
lovely Laura, I feel the same way about the coast, I just wished I lived a little closer. It has a pull, can’t be explained, but if you feel it, you understand it
December 7, 2015 at 4:19 pm
Thank you Julie. I live “semi” close. Well, in the Bay Area everything is close but that traffic makes it seem far. 🙂 The pull is so true though. I feel so connected when I’m on the coast!
December 7, 2015 at 4:26 pm
complete?
December 7, 2015 at 4:33 pm
That works! Yes, definitely whole and not missing anything. Not stressed out…just enjoying and be-ing!

Beautiful shot Laura…I have always lived near a body of water, so I don’t think too much about it…however when family comes in from the West, one of the first places they want to go is the ocean. Enjoy your coastal proximity!
December 8, 2015 at 6:19 am
Thank you so much. Come west and I’ll show you the neat places! I loved the way you ended this comment by the way. 🙂
December 8, 2015 at 3:48 am
this shot is just delicious
December 8, 2015 at 6:20 am
Thank you Laura. 🙂

How neat to see other photographers lined up to get the scenery!!! Breathtaking … out of this world breathtaking! I LOVE the coast too but we have nothing like this here. We have such a beautiful coastline but sadly a lot of it holds empty, ugly factories or warehouses from when Buffalo was a bustling harbor city. If the coastline would be cleaned up …. if only!!! That takes money and as we all know, money has been cut in all the wrong places. Geesh, did I ever get sidetracked. LOL Back to your image! AWESOME and POWERFUL!!!! Thank you, Laura!!! ❤
December 8, 2015 at 10:51 am
I’m so glad you see the powerful aspect of the coastline here in this image. I love love our rocky coast! And this isn’t even that rocky really. I like how the rocks are sheared. Thank you Amy! 🙂

Gorgeous shot Laura, love the monotone conversion and the light on the cliffs and wispy clouds
December 8, 2015 at 10:52 am
I’m so glad you like it, Mark, thank you. The wispy clouds are courtesy of photoshop manipulation. 🙂 They were not that wispy and rather ugly in the original. Sssshhhh. 😉
December 8, 2015 at 2:13 pm
I wouldn’t have known…..so your secret is safe with me 😉

I live in San Francisco, and your gorgeous photos are of all my favorite places. ( We really have to thank Philip Burton and many others for saving this coastline for us. It could have been full of condominiums. ) I don’t get out to Drake’s Beach often enough, and your photo is enough to inspire me to make the trip as soon as possible. I wish I could buy all of your photos!!!.
December 9, 2015 at 7:15 am
Oh that’s right. I think you mentioned you could see the GGB before? How convenient to live there. When I lived there I didn’t take photos. But heck, I’m just glad I’m still in the Bay Area so I can photograph all these amazing places! Thank you so much Carol.

There is something that is truly special about walking along the ocean lost in your thoughts, listing to the waves hit the beach, and feeling the salt air on your face.
December 9, 2015 at 1:33 pm
Ahhh yes indeedy. There’s nothing else quite like it! Thank you Charlie. 🙂
December 9, 2015 at 10:44 pm
