Sunol Water Temple – Long Exposure

As promised, here’s another image of the Sunol Water Temple.  I chose to do a Long Exposure and converted it to black and white.

The inscription at the top of the temple reads:  “I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry lands springs of water.”

I think it’s time I take a break from all the color saturation and post a black and white image.   This is the same bridge as in a previous post from the other day (seen here).   In both images the bridge seems surreal in a way, and there is an almost unattainable feeling in both images to me.  In the previous post it was like a mirage in the distance, but in this one I feel as though the bridge is a conduit to something unknown but good.

What does this image say to you?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Up in the Redwoods

We took a trip up to Avenue of the Giants for a couple days and had a wonderful time.  Avenue of the Giants is about five hours north of the San Francisco Bay Area in Humboldt County.  This world-famous scenic drive is a 31-mile portion of old Highway 101 with its 51,222 acres of redwood groves.  It is by far the most outstanding display of these giant trees in the 500 mile redwood belt and is surrounded by Humboldt Redwoods State Park which has the largest remaining stand of old growth redwoods in the world!  You can read more about the area here.

We stayed two nights and had perfect weather.  We explored all the highlights and enjoyed being amongst all the ancient trees.  We meandered off the beaten path too and managed to get ourselves lost on some backroad.  It was quite the adventure.  Let’s just say we really could’ve used a 4WD jeep!

I’ve been having a really hard time getting into the swing of taking pictures and checking in here.  My Bad!  So in an attempt to try to make a comeback lol…here’s an image of some funny redwood houses I found along the Avenue of the Giants.  They really made me smile and I thought they looked kind of cool in black and white.
