Here we come Alaska…

Ok, so I’m just a tad excited.  We’re leaving for Alaska tomorrow morning.  Yay!   Right now I’m taking a break from packing my suitcase.   Oy!  It’s always such an ordeal getting all my little bottles together, the right lipsticks, the right tops and bottoms and formal attire for the formal nights, hiking boots, glittery shoes for evening, ipad charger, purses, hats, gloves, fleece vest, swimsuit for the hot tub/pool area, LOL…you get the idea.  It’s kind of a mixed bag of what to bring on this trip, so I have to bring a little of everything.

I just checked the weather and it seems like typical Alaska weather this time of year…some rain, some sun but not cold.  Hurray!  I did bring some warm things to wear just in case, especially since we’ll be up in helicopters and in a 4×4 in the wilderness.  And a waterproof/windproof jacket.

My camera has its very own suitcase now, by the way.  I’ll be rolling it on as a carry on.  Fortunately I didn’t have to buy a separate seat for it.  🙂

OMG, I am so excited.  See you in little over a week!   It’s been 8 months since my knee replacement and I’m living life once again.  🙂

A day around the bay…

Yesterday hubby and I went to one of our favorite SF hangouts called The Buena Vista Cafe.  It’s one of the few spots in SF where both locals and tourists enjoy going.  We go for their Irish Coffees…omg, they are the best.

After hanging out at the BV, we ventured over to Fort Point.  The America’s cup is being held here in SF, so we thought it might be fun to see some boats.

I think we were a bit late, but it was still fun anyway.  We got a parking spot at the top of Fort Point and walked the pathway down to Fort Point below.  My knee did so well on the uneven surfaces.  Prior to my replacement, I would’ve analyzed that and said “no way”, but now I said, “let’s go!”.

Seeing the Golden Gate is always spectacular…

We saw beautiful flowers along the way….

Once we arrived down below, we did see a few of the competition boats which was fun and I couldn’t resist taking some pics.   What a great day!

The dawn of the unslept

I don’t know how many of you out there have insomnia, but it is one beast!  I’ve had it all my life.  Even as a child I can remember having a hard time falling asleep, but lately OMG…it’s been bad.  It’s definitely not the knee replacement, because it’s been feeling very good lately.  Oh yeah, my knee replacement!  Isn’t that why I started this whole blog in the first place?  😉

Who knows why this is going on but the last few days I’ve been running on very little sleep and last night I only got two hours.  I’m a bit cross-eyed looking at this screen; but not too much to say that I’m thankful I’m here, and I’m looking forward to our upcoming Alaska trip in one week!

I used to spend an inordinate amount of time in front of the computer not accomplishing anything at all, but now I’m out living life, enjoying my husband, making new friends, and reacquainting myself with old ones….WOW what a difference!

Please check out this link.  Mark Hirsch has been documenting the life of one oak tree for an entire year, taking one picture a day with his iPhone.  The creativity is INCREDIBLE!!!
