Magic Number is “1”!!!!

Anyone who knows me, knows I love baseball.  The really convenient thing about this is that I live in baseball heaven with two teams to choose from, The Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants!  Growing up in Oakland, I’ve witnessed some of the finest baseball in history over the years.

Which team is my favorite you ask?  Hmm…well, I would say I love them both equally.  AT&T Park where the Giants play is a gorgeous facility.   The fans are awesome and it’s really a treat to go.  (Oh!  That reminds me, we have tickets to the Giants vs. Dodgers on Thursday, lol.)  But Oakland is my hometown, so I have a huge soft spot for the A’s.

Yesterday my hubby and I wanted to go to the game and we wondered which one we should go to.  We decided on Sunday and we are so glad we did because today is the day the A’s could clinch their division!   Their magic number is ‘1’!  Needless to say I’m a happy camper!

I’m even more of a happy camper because yesterday I fell on my knee replacement.  Fortunately, it happened inside our house just inside the door on an area rug.  We had an unusual heavy rain (it rarely rains in California at this time) and I took off my shoes just inside the door and forgot they were there and tripped on them shortly after.  Ugh!  My knee hurt and it was a bit swollen but today it seems I’m fine again.  I did worry a bit because it hurt like $%^&!!!  But now I seem to be back to normal and I’m walking fine.  😀     Thank god because I don’t want to miss this game!  LOL!  I have my priorities.  🙂

Here we come Alaska…

Ok, so I’m just a tad excited.  We’re leaving for Alaska tomorrow morning.  Yay!   Right now I’m taking a break from packing my suitcase.   Oy!  It’s always such an ordeal getting all my little bottles together, the right lipsticks, the right tops and bottoms and formal attire for the formal nights, hiking boots, glittery shoes for evening, ipad charger, purses, hats, gloves, fleece vest, swimsuit for the hot tub/pool area, LOL…you get the idea.  It’s kind of a mixed bag of what to bring on this trip, so I have to bring a little of everything.

I just checked the weather and it seems like typical Alaska weather this time of year…some rain, some sun but not cold.  Hurray!  I did bring some warm things to wear just in case, especially since we’ll be up in helicopters and in a 4×4 in the wilderness.  And a waterproof/windproof jacket.

My camera has its very own suitcase now, by the way.  I’ll be rolling it on as a carry on.  Fortunately I didn’t have to buy a separate seat for it.  🙂

OMG, I am so excited.  See you in little over a week!   It’s been 8 months since my knee replacement and I’m living life once again.  🙂

From San Francisco to Chicago!

Well from SF to the group Chicago anyway, lol.  Last night we went to Wente Vineyard for a fantastic concert by Chicago under the stars.   WOW!  What a great time!!!  I wish I could’ve brought my camera in because I could’ve taken some cool shots, but when we called in advance, the vineyard said ‘no’ to any cameras.  Drat!

It started off with finding out our table was in the first row, smack dab in the center.  Hubby is one of the board of directors for a credit union, one of the main sponsors of these events, so hence the table location.  They serve an amazing buffet before the concert, so we enjoyed that with some Wente wine of course!  Riva Ranch is my favorite chardonnay.  Quite nice if you haven’t tried it.  It’s sold all over the country, so it should be in a store near you!

Before the concert started, we had special passes to go meet the band.  That was so fun!  When it was our turn out of maybe 12 people, we walked up there and I must’ve been grinning like a Cheshire cat because Robert Lamm said something like “wow, great smile!”  lol.  Yeah, that was one of the highlights of the night.  haha

The concert was FANTASTIC!!  They are so much better live than they are on their albums.  They poured their hearts out on the stage (in between doses of geritol, ha) and I danced around on my knee!  I was really on my feet, but you know what I mean.  I haven’t been able to dance in several years so that felt awesome to be able to get up and shake my bootay!

Ahh, life is good!    Sorry for the blurry pic but the iphone did okay considering it was dark and dealing with all those lights.
