Journey of a body on this earth

Creating a Mood

It was very spooky at the Mountain View Cemetery a few days ago.  It was as if I could feel the spirits reaching for me through the grass as I tip-toed over their graves moving from one area to the next.  The crunching of the fall leaves on the ground provided the perfect sound backdrop to such a quiet place and built up frightening anticipation as to what was to come.  BWHAHAHAHA!

Okay, so maybe that’s an exaggeration.  The sun was out, people were jogging and some people were even having picnics next to crypts!  I kid you not!   While that alone is an interesting juxtaposition, it’s not what I was going for that day.  I really wanted a moody Halloween image.

In this image, the light and texture of the crypt, staircase, clouds, grass and foliage in the foreground really spoke to me.  Even though it was pretty in color, I converted it to an “almost” black and white with some other “scary techniques” thrown in.  I was scared just doing it!  😉

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Who doesn’t love that song?  Maybe there are some people that don’t, but I really love it.  I couldn’t stop humming it as I was taking this picture the other evening.  It’s a good thing no one else was around, lol.

It was a blustery, rainy, sunny evening and I took this when I snapped the Power Struggle image I posted recently.  That bench overlooking the little valley where we used to live is just so charming.  It’s funny that I hadn’t taken a photo of it before, but I think everything happens for a reason, so on my last day just before our move, I was provided the opportunity for this shot.

I really believe it was a sign that good things are to come and for a new chapter in my life to begin.  Life is good and not somewhere over the rainbow, but right here and now.

Dreams Do Come True

Power Struggle

I’m baaaack!  Did you miss me???  😛   I’m somewhat settled and it feels good to be in our new home. Life is sometimes a challenge but I’m learning that when there isn’t a struggle of power and you have an awesome teammate like I do in my husband, you can conquer anything.

This image was taken the other day only a few blocks away from that famous “back deck” you’ve all seen here many times.  The weather was very dramatic and I thought it amazing to see the utility poles representing man-made power vs. nature’s power surrounding and dwarfing them.  We are just a speck in the grand scheme of things.
