Mare Island Shipyard – Patterns

This image was taken at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California.  For over 142 years, our country’s defense depended on Mare Island Navy Yard as well as over 100 organizations which were in operation there over the years.  The Mare Island Historic Park Foundation’s master plan is to recover as much of that history, plus the operating character of the shipyard, as much as possible, and make it available to scholars and other interested individuals and groups.

Don’t ask why I’ve never been there…..perhaps because I didn’t take photos before, but all I can say is this place is huge and it is so interesting!

I’ve scheduled a photo shoot there with my camera club on June 4th so I’m saving myself lol!  I went here just to see if it would be a good place for photos and I was beside myself with enthusiasm for this place.  I did take a few photos with my Sony A7, and when I go out with the club it will be later in the evening before sunset.  I can’t wait!
