Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Who doesn’t love that song?  Maybe there are some people that don’t, but I really love it.  I couldn’t stop humming it as I was taking this picture the other evening.  It’s a good thing no one else was around, lol.

It was a blustery, rainy, sunny evening and I took this when I snapped the Power Struggle image I posted recently.  That bench overlooking the little valley where we used to live is just so charming.  It’s funny that I hadn’t taken a photo of it before, but I think everything happens for a reason, so on my last day just before our move, I was provided the opportunity for this shot.

I really believe it was a sign that good things are to come and for a new chapter in my life to begin.  Life is good and not somewhere over the rainbow, but right here and now.

Year 2013 on Speed

When I started this blog back in December 2012, I only had the intention of sharing my knee replacement journey and the physical accomplishments I would make along the way.  Once I started to feel better and get out and about, I started realizing that looking through a viewfinder was becoming an important part of my journey and my life.

Here are some 2013 highlights!   C’mon…you know you want to see them again.  😛

The most liked post is the a recent one of the San Francisco Bay Bridge at night…it was my first nighttime long exposure and it seemed to be well received:    https://lauramacky.wordpress.com/2013/12/22/san-francisco-bay-bridge-at-christmas/

The most commented post is the Pigeon Point Lighthouse image….I think this photo represents when I started using my wide angle lens in a more effective manner:  https://lauramacky.wordpress.com/2013/10/13/pidgeon-point-lighthouse/

This post reminds me of how important it is to have your camera readyhttps://lauramacky.wordpress.com/2013/09/03/the-golden-state/

One of the best pieces of advice I received as a new photographer was to always shoot in RAW format.  I was able to extract the salmon from this photo because I shot in RAW, otherwise the photo would’ve merely shown murky water with shadows of fish.  Just click and scroll down a bit on this link and you’ll see the salmon.   https://lauramacky.wordpress.com/2013/08/25/tongas-forest-in-alaska/

This post is near and dear to my heart.  It’s my five month progress report for my knee replacement.  Via WordPress stats, I can see this post is still viewed, and it makes me happy people still find it informative.  https://lauramacky.wordpress.com/2013/05/08/five-month-report/

Lastly (if you’ve made it this far, lol)……thank you for supporting me!

Here’s a crazy thing I did in Photoshop….just having some fun, plus this post needed an image LOL!

The Golden State

Those of you who’ve been following me recently know I’ve been obsessed with skies.  Last evening we were watching TV and I looked outside our back door and saw the most incredible skies!  Living in the Bay Area during the summer usually means one thing and one thing only:  blue skies.  We don’t get many clouds this time of year and certainly rarely a storm.

While we didn’t get any rain last night, the skies filled with beautiful clouds over the hills.  The clouds were parted in some spots allowing blue to show through, and the sun cast the most beautiful color over our Golden State.  They call California the “Golden State” for a reason!  It’s BROWN in the summer, or more eloquently called, “golden”.

Hope you enjoy!
