Journey of a body on this earth

Landline

Not much going on today really, but as I clean the house I’m listening to Greg Laswell who I really adore. This song is just wonderful and if you’ve never heard it, please check it out! He’s singing with his wife, Ingrid Michaelson.

Lyrics….

I think the tree may fall in the front yard
if this storm has it’s way
I hear you dancing on the floorboards above
unaware of what’s at stake
All I ever needed was a landline
just in case the power lines go down
All I needed would never be enough for me

I think the storm may take the screen door
if the wind gets it’s way
I hear you singing on the floor just below
unaware of what’s at stake
All I ever needed was a landline
just in case the power lines go down
All I needed would never be enough for me

All I ever needed was a landline
just in case the power lines go down
All I needed would never be enough for me
All I ever needed was a landline
just in case the power lines go down
All I needed would never be enough for me

All I needed would never be enough for me
All I needed would never be enough for me
All I needed would…
All I needed would never be enough for me
All I needed would never be enough for me

Grounded

All I can say is WOW!  Dave’s birthday was absolutely fabulous!  We were really lucky because the day before I called to check in with the company as requested,  they informed me that lately they had not been able to fly out of Napa because of morning fog.  The secondary plan was to go to another location in case they were unable to fly out of Napa the next morning.  Problem is, the secondary location is nothing like Napa and was just over some brown cornfields, so needless to say we said no to the secondary location in hopes that for some strange reason the weather would cooperate.  So they made a note and asked us to call back the next day at 4:15 in the morning.

The alarm went off early and I made that hopeful call.  Thumbs up the company owner said.  Yay!  We’re going!!!  It was an experience of a lifetime!  It was a very smooth , fun ride and I would highly recommend it!   The company we elected to go with is a small balloon basket but the same balloon experience.  It was nice to only have 8 inside rather than 20 which some balloons have.  It was totally clear when we lifted off and as we were floating, you could see fog rolling in off in the distance.   By the time we completed the ride, the fog had started taking over, and by the time we were at breakfast an hour later it was completely foggy.   All I can say is that it was meant to be!

My knee did really well!  To enter and exit the basket is not exactly handicap friendly, though.  You do have to hoist yourself over by putting your foot in a little insert and then kind of drop into the basket.  But no problem here.  Yay, life is so much better now that I have a good knee!  To those who are wondering if they should have the operation or are afraid of it…..DO IT!!!!!  Your life will be so much better for it.

Up, Up and Away….

We are about to go have a fun weekend in for my husband’s birthday.  Hot air ballooning in Napa!  And lucky us, it happens to be a beautiful summer weekend!  Is there any other kind in the beautiful state of California?  🙂

The last few days I haven’t gone to the gym.  I wanted to give my knee a rest for a few days and wow can I feel the difference.  It really feels great!  Pushing it at the gym is ok but I think I might’ve been pushing it a little too much too soon.  I think I’m going to reduce my workouts to 40-45 minutes.  That’s enough for now.  And maybe once a week, do the hour.  I keep hearing my surgeon’s voice in my mind saying it would probably take one year for my knee to feel completely normal.

In the meantime, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  I’ll be bringing my camera along for the balloon ride and hope to get some good pics.  Cross your fingers for me!
