Docking

I think something is amiss with posting to word press.  My last post hardly got any views which is really strange.  I noticed when I posted that it gave me an error message yet it was viewed successfully by a small segment of the readership.  Recently I just posted this image yet I got another error and couldn’t even see it myself!  Weird!  So now I’m trying to post this one as a new post rather than using “copy a post” which is how I usually post.  Has anyone else had issues with this?

I took this at Crockett, California the other day and loved the old rustic building and boat.  I think I must’ve been a fisherman in a past life or someone who worked on the docks because I really love the feeling when in these locations.  🙂

  1. I had the same thing the other day. After two hours I wrote to the forum. Told to add another tag. I did and that jolted it on. But it put it two hours down the feed. Big disappointment.
However, this is a great photograph.

    • I’m glad to know I’m not the only one but sorry to hear you had the same issue. Good idea about the tag. I’ll give that a go later on. Thanks for the tip!! And the compliment. 🙂

  2. Wow i liked edits!

  3. Lovely photo. Want to listen to Otis Redding now.

  4. Not had that issue but have been mysteriously unsubscribed from people once in a while… WP is too big for it’s own britches maybe. Tech issues.

  5. I have had this problem, where I could not post. Then I used enter one time for my text and could publish.
If you publish from your phone, there can be other problems. Great photo Laura 🙂

  6. Your original post came through to my phone 5 or 10 minutes after your second attempt. Very strange.

  7. Lovely photo, Laura, of the dock of the Bay. I’m glad you were able to get it posted. I haven’t had this particular problem before, but I have had 2 or 3 occasions where my post didn’t get published on the Reader; then 1 time it came on the Reader but an hour later. My guess was that WP gets backed up when they have a big flux of bloggers posting at the same time. Have a fun weekend! 😀

  8. Beautiful, Laura! I like how you placed the boat between the foreground and the bridge, and you captured some soft light.

  9. I have had some similar issues. Great photograph in this post, glad I did not miss it.

  10. Good picture! No problems with wordpress here but I don’t use it all that much.

  11. so calm and peaceful

  12. Beautiful image, as always! I’ve had that same problem, but not lately. I wrote to the forum, and just as I had done that, it posted and I could see it…but hours late in the feed. Once my post came 13 hours late in the feed and a very small number of people saw it. So it’s not personal 😀

  13. Such a warm views of the dock. Serene. Pity about WP playing up. I had that problem a few months ago minus the error message, and my post didn’t even appear in the reader. All good now.

  14. Had one major problem– when the “beep bop” messages were popping up on my adding a new post. all my previous year’s postings had all my typewritten stuff converted to major step indents on every line. Still fixing some of those old posts as I get time. Like your photos.

  15. The only time you should ‘copy a post’ is when you want to use the same material and format you had in a previous post and want to alter it just slightly. janina

  16. There are three segments to your image which make it look like an overlaid triptych – clever perspective and combinations – not to mention the tonal effects
p.s. have had quite a few problems lately- if I use the old editor, it publishes the post with date when first drafted so disappears to bottom of the reader. The new editor gets stuck in beep beep boop loop so I can’t draft and when I do manage, text vanishes from the page but is still there. 😮

    • What a nice compliment, thank you Laura. 🙂 I’ve been using the old editor as I’ve still resisted the new one. I guess I’m a creature of habit!

      • that may be the problem Laura – it could be publishing your posts on the first draft date (as it does with me even though in preview it shows the correct date) – or since you copy posts, it may take the date of the original and hence it will appear way down the reader – that is what happens when I use the old reader – now I prepare it all in the old one, and do final edit in the new one before publishing from there

  17. a beautiful image
    i’m happy it broke through
    the wp barriers 🙂

  18. I’ve had some WP weirdness too but I’m not tech savvy enough to even begin to interrogate what went wrong. I just start over.

I’m glad you found a way to share this image though. The warm light against the man-made industrial elements, the warmth against the blues and greys, is really pleasing.

  19. Great texture and nice contrast. I haven’t had an issue posting but good to know there may be an issue?

  20. Very cool framing, Laura. I really like how this is arranged by you of course. And my stats are down. My likes are way down. And my usual comments way down. No idea. *sighs* We’ll just sail on through this together. I’m still here, though. I haven’t been online much and have not used my reader much either today, so I don’t know for sure if this post I would have seen. *another sigh* BLEEP! LOL 😉 (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

  21. I really like the somber mood of this. FYI, notice of your previous post appeared normally in my inbox, as did this one.

    • Thank you. 🙂 I’m glad my previous one appeared. I changed that one too a couple of times to make it appear in the reader. Maybe only people who get it delivered to the inbox got it. Alas!

  22. Hmmm … you must be in a nautical fame of mind lately. 🙂

I’ve given up on Reader and some other features on WP. In trying to be mobile friendly, they’ve lost some of their functionality. My particular gripe is they drop letters if I type too fast – must be the guys in the back office have their equipment set on S-L-O-W.

    • I must be! I do love the water. It’s a shame that WP has lost more conveniences. 😦 I’ve tried commenting and giving suggestions but they are not even responded to. Oh well.. C’est la vie!

  23. I like the darkness in this one – too much illumination would not have worked as well.
