“Yin and Yang” is used to describe how opposite or contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world; and, how they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. That’s how I felt when I took this photo. Our move was the very next day and I felt complete peace knowing we were starting a new chapter in our lives, yet I was feeling anxious at the same time with all the things to do regarding the move itself. Somehow that reflected in this image with the velvety landscape against the stormy sky.
I never take nature for granted. Every cloud, ray of sunlight and every slope of a hill are always new and beautiful to me. I hope you enjoy this image as much as I did standing there admiring the scenery.

so beautiful! I love moments like this. Grumpy clouds and gorgeous rolling hills. You live in a beautiful place.
April 17, 2014 at 7:44 am
That kind of weather doesn’t happen too often out here in California…mainly in winter and spring. It is a beautiful place. Thank you!
April 17, 2014 at 7:49 am
Yes, I agree, That blue Californian sky washes out my landscape when I try to photograph it. I love it when there are clouds!
April 17, 2014 at 7:56 am
Me too! Then I don’t have to go into “sky replacement mode” LOL
April 17, 2014 at 8:03 am
Ha! Is there such a thing? I want that. I do have one setting on my camera that helps a bit. But, mostly it is just all washed out. Unless, I am up higher, in the mountains. I can get better shots up there.
April 17, 2014 at 8:05 am
Yes! It’s called PHOTOSHOP lol. I take pictures of skies when there are beautiful clouds and save them on my computer for such times when the skies are crappy. Or I use a polarized filter on my lens to make the skies blue if they’re already nice with wispy clouds and I always shoot in raw to bring out the detail.
April 17, 2014 at 7:42 am
Stunning.

Lovely, and yes, tranquil. So nice to see the green hills.
April 17, 2014 at 7:55 am
And you are one who knows why California is named “The Golden State”. Yes, nice to see the greenery. 🙂

Cheers!
April 17, 2014 at 8:23 am
Thank you Dan! You know how rare these moments are around here as we don’t really have inclement weather in the summer and the hills aren’t green then. Anyway, thank you for stopping by my friend 🙂

the blessings of the earth and sky!! Beautiful photo. Are you settled in yet?
April 17, 2014 at 9:51 am
Settling but we are renovating here and there. This place is amazing. I have a bad cold though so not much picture taking or enjoyment of the place yet. Soon I hope.
April 17, 2014 at 10:14 am
Great shot Laura, the pools of light on the hills in the mid-ground is to die for.
April 17, 2014 at 10:29 am
Thank you Mark. Hard to argue with Mother Nature! 🙂
April 17, 2014 at 10:16 am
I like the layers of transition between back, mid and foreground – moving from a pastel to desaturated to intense – like this one a lot! Indeed never take nature for granted – I guess that also sums up my fixation with abandonment – nature always wins out in the end.
April 17, 2014 at 10:30 am
Thank you so much for your insight. Nature does always win…we are so small in comparison.
April 17, 2014 at 10:42 am
Photoshop really….. Just kidding, great shot.
April 17, 2014 at 10:52 am
Shocking i know LOL. Thank you!
April 17, 2014 at 5:54 pm
