Point Lobos Natural Reserve is a California State Park and I’ve gotta say, it is absolutely stunning! We went there last year and I realized that I didn’t like the way I processed the photo, so I revamped it here and am much happier with the way it looks and fits more with the style I’m doing now.
If you want to know more about Point Lobos, you can read about it by clicking on the link.

August 6, 2014 at 4:13 am
Nice spot (and image)
August 6, 2014 at 9:14 am
OMG yesss this spot! Thank you 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 4:23 am
It’s true, but it is funny to think that we all have an idea of our particular styles – what fits and what doesn’t – to look back and rethink how you processed something is a good idea from time-to-time. Nice shot Laura!
August 6, 2014 at 9:14 am
Thank you Robert. 🙂 Especially when I was sort of new to all this a year ago. I’ve learned more since then so I like to apply what I’ve learned to the old images.
August 6, 2014 at 4:36 am
So striking
August 6, 2014 at 9:16 am
Thank you Alex. I love drama in photos. 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 4:42 am
Beautiful shot. I often go back and re-process images as my techniques and vision change.
August 6, 2014 at 9:17 am
Thank you Ted. I appreciate it and you understand what it’s like to look back and go…EEEK! What was I thinking????????? Maybe I’ll do it again next year with this image lol.
August 6, 2014 at 5:20 am
Beautiful capture and processing Laura. I can really see your “style” in all of your work. Cheers!
August 6, 2014 at 9:18 am
Aww thank you! I’m so glad you see some sort of style…..like maybe dramatic? I’m thinking that’s where I’m headed. Thanks PBro! 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 11:05 am
Yes…dramatic! 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 11:24 am

I’m glad I could bring back fond memories. This place has got to be one of the most stunning places on the planet! Thank you.

So beautiful there. One of the places I miss in California. Your photograph is gorgeous!
August 6, 2014 at 11:24 am
Thank you so much 🙂 I’m glad you’ve been there. I’ve met people who’ve lived in the bay area all their lives that have not been there. It’s a must see!
August 6, 2014 at 10:46 am
Very poetic, it seems like a Viking ship is going to arrive anytime.
August 6, 2014 at 11:24 am
LOL….I love that. Thank you. 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 11:42 am
… Garden of Eden … Perfect, Laura! 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 11:56 am
Thank you Fabio! Hmm…I SWORE I clicked follow on your blog link under your gravatar last time and it shows you as not followed. 😦 I’ll refollow. Although I probably won’t be doing much looking until a week or so after my surgery next week.
August 6, 2014 at 12:32 pm
Hi Laura, Don’t worry about that. I wish you a very successful surgery next week and I will be waiting for you to come back at full force. Take care, my friend, and you will be in my thoughts! 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 2:43 pm
Thank you Fabio. You are very kind. 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 2:48 pm
Take care, Laura! 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 11:42 am
Lovely photo, I like how you have created depth with the difference in saturation in the foreground and background.
August 6, 2014 at 11:55 am
Thank you so much Ben. 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 11:53 am
An excellent image, Laura. One of my favorite places to stop along the coast whenever I get a chance. Have you been down to McWay Falls? Another cool spot.
August 6, 2014 at 11:55 am
Thank you Robin 🙂 No I haven’t but I’ve heard of it. I love the Big Sur area and hopefully next year when my knee is rehabbed I can go there! Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 12:45 pm
Stunning Laura 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 2:47 pm
Thank you Julie 🙂

August 6, 2014 at 2:49 pm
I’m glad I could make you stop and dream. Thank you! 🙂
August 6, 2014 at 2:21 pm
Gorgeous, Laura! Your have created an image that is mystical, dramatic, and peaceful all at once. Not easy to do, but you, my friend, did it beautifully!
August 6, 2014 at 2:50 pm
Thank you so much! I guess my personality is coming through…a mess lol! just kidding 😉
August 6, 2014 at 3:04 pm
Beautifully processed shot! Isn’t it interesting how we continue to evolve? Your statement about how the processing is closer to “the style I’m doing now” made me realize how much I am changing, too! Love Point Lobos! And this image!
August 6, 2014 at 4:22 pm
Maybe next year I will think this image sucks lol! I have to head over to your blog now. I’ve been neglectful of many blogs lately getting ready for my surgery. My apologies. Thank you for interacting here. I love it!
August 7, 2014 at 6:09 am
Stunning place and great capture. I like your processing. Id be interested to see what it was like previously and how you created your changes. Or is that like asking an artist to share their secrets lol. Superb shot Laura. 🙂
ps good luck with your surgery
August 7, 2014 at 7:11 am
And thank you for the wishes!!!

What a beautiful, dreamlike picture! I love this colours! 🙂
August 7, 2014 at 11:51 am
Thank you so much! I love that you saw “dreamlike”. 😀
August 8, 2014 at 6:43 am
I know what you mean about re-working images 😉 – our tastes change, our intent for the shot might change and our skills at processing and familiarity with the software get better …. we’ll NEVER be done with them 🙂
August 8, 2014 at 7:51 am
True…I’ve realized that we will never be done. That is the fun of it too. Plus I know now what I like…vibrance and depth…I try to capture that feeling but I’m still new to developing my style. This is the best hobby in the world! Thank you for your comments.
August 8, 2014 at 5:11 pm
Beautiful photos. I am a native Californian and Point Lobos is one of my favorite places. I was there about a year ago with my husband and daughter on a gorgeous sunny day with whales spouting off the shore. Deer too. Just magical. Thanks for liking my guest blog post on Life in the Boomer Lane about retirement and transitions.
August 8, 2014 at 6:35 pm
Thank you so much Deborah. I’m so glad you know this place. It truly IS magical. I enjoyed your post and you’re welcome. Photography is my 9-5 job replacement. I don’t know what I’d do without it!
